IT’S TIME WE STOP TRYING TO FIT INTO A SOCIETY UNWILLING TO CHANGE
The Mitochondria Society aims to create a new city for women, girls, and gays to live freely without oppression. Through country-to-country networks and a self-built city headquarters, we plan to build a sustainable protective community to stop the cycle of violence against women and the LGBTQ community.
Phase 1: The Plan

Phase 2: The Land & Permits
Unfortunately due to history, there aren’t any unclaimed land masses that can be bought without being connected to a country’s government. That said, the least problematic countries with land will be shortlisted.
Countries that meet the criteria of high gender and LGBTQ equality indexes, and welcome environment are the main considerations.
Currently, we hold 16 acres of land in Japan, but the lack of legal protections and souring political climate around immigration and visa limits makes it a less than ideal base.
Phase 3: The Settlement
Architectural engineers, sustainable city planners, and construction workers break ground on the acquired land to begin building the city using the latest technology in building engineering and climate mitigation. Initial focus will be on structures for health and wellbeing.

With the growing advancement in both 3D printing and sustainable building, we hope to utilize this knowledge to build up the central city.
Phase 4: Extraction
Inviting and bringing in those that struggle to get out of the cycle of abuse. Through requests and targeted emergency situations, women and members of the LGBTQ community will be brought to and assigned residential living spaces. With cleared partner companies and the society resource needs, gentle jobs and incomes will be available for residents to assume regular life.
